In search of the very frequent but oh so illusive Aurora Borealis, we took a taxi 10 K outside Longyearbyen and stood there in the cold waiting. Some faint white light moved around on the horizon (Luckily it came out green on the photo) and after running the meter to almost 4 digits we decided it was time to call it a night and venture back to the hotel. When we came back we heard several stories of the wonderful aurora that had appeared over the city that evening.......10 K is everything it seems!

This is a photo of an Aurora Borealis over Longyearbyen that we would have liked to see! Maybe next time...
